A Little Too Cautious
One of the major drivers of the cost of health care is the high cost of malpractice insurance that doctors have to carry. I understand the need for this in the event of an accident during surgery or an operation. However, I think it is subject to abuse by some who feel they would like a lot of something for nothing. Yes, there are doctors out there who shouldn't be doctors, and there is a need for this kind of insurance when things go wrong. However, I think a better approach would be to remove the instigator from the equation if things go wrong a lot. If a doctor is making numerous mistakes on numerous occasions, he should no longer be allowed to practice medicine. This would bring down the cost of insurance and there would be fewer mistakes made. Just a thought.
