The legislative session just started in Utah and they must be running on a theme this year. The theme is: we don't want to be associated with the federal government of the United States. First, they are trying to pass a bill to make Utah exempt from any federal health care reform. Second, a bill is making it's way through the legislature that would make any gun manufactured and sold in Utah exempt from any gun regulations. And today, a bill made it through committee that would make Utah exempt from any federal global warming regulations. From the looks of these bills, Utah is truly on it's way to being a country in another country. Well, it actually already is, but now they are just trying to make it official.
Since their theme, as it seems, this year is to tell the federal government to go away, I guess that means they won't be taking any federal funds anymore. Ya, right. On the same news page that reported the aforementioned bills, there was a story stating that Utah will be receiving 4.7 million dollars from the federal government's bureau of workforce services.
So I guess that means that Utah doesn't want to be told what to do, but they don't want their allowance taken away either. That makes it sound like Utah is now in it's teenage years. Wonder how long it will take them to mature and grow up.
