Constantly

Do the ads that show up on web pages actually work? Most of them are the same thing over and over again, only they change the city name that you are in. There are others stating that a single mom has found the key to wealth or white teeth or even the best fat burner. I'm just wondering since people see these ads all the time on nearly every website they go to, do the people who put the ads out ever see any revenue from them? Anymore, those ads just seem to clutter up the sites that they are on.

Avoid If Possible

I made the mistake today of going to the stores during rush hour. Man, I hate traffic. I really try to avoid it if possible. At one point tonight, I sat in the same spot while I watched the light at the front of the line change two full cycles. In another part of time, I watched about 8 vehicles run a red light, up to the point where the other direction was just about ready to start. Please, if you can avoid rush hour, do it. It will add years to your life if you do.

Why So High

I have never understood why it costs so much to do some of these government jobs. For example, they have to constantly take graffiti off the exit signs on some of the freeways here in the valley. They say it costs well over a hundred thousand dollars to clean this stuff up. Why? There is no way a new sign costs that much. And most of the time, you could just cover up the graffiti with paint. It seems like such a simple task, but the costs always, always seems to be high. The government here is complaining that they have no money and have budget problems. I really can imagine why.

One For Everything

I was at the store the other day trying to find a card for my wife's birthday. While I was there, I noticed they had a card for everything. They had cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and even had first communion invitations. I didn't even now they had those. It just seemed they had more cards then there could possibly be an occassion. I wonder if it is someone's job to just think of possible cards to sell.

Lucky

Growing up, I had cousins that had their own tuxedo because they were in orchestra. As the last one grew out of their tux, they gave it to me. This worked out great for me because I could use that tux for school dances and not have to rent one each time. This saved me all kinds of money, especially since I was a high school student and only had minimal income. I think now if I had the same tux, there would be no way I could fit into it. Sad, but true.

Faster And Faster

I think time starts to speed up as you get older. Perhaps it is because the number of kids increases. Or perhaps its because of the career or the added responsibilities that come as you get older. Whatever it is, I would like time to slow down. I seem to be missing so much. I remember the day when our oldest son was born and now he is sitting here next to me as a strong 5-year old. Where does the time go? I'm afraid I may be missing key points in my kids' life because I'm so busy doing the things necessary to take care of them. I would like time to slow down and I'm afraid that it won't slow down until all the kids are grown up and out of the house.

It will be worth it in the end

These days money never seems to stretch as far. I have a great job, which I am extremely thankful for considering the rates of unemployment these days, but it still seems like there's never enough to breathe easily. We are working hard to pay off our student loans by paying extra every month, which is why things are a bit tight. But it will be worth it not to have to pay them for 20 years and instead be free of them in about 2 years.

Keeping up with technology

It seems like there is never a way to stay current with technology. By the time you buy something it is almost obsolete. For example- DVDs are starting to no longer be the best video experience. Now there are bluray discs, which you have to buy a special Blu-ray player to use. I remember not long ago when ads for videos would say "Now on VHS and DVD!" and now it's "Now on DVD and Blu-ray!". All the new movies come out with the special blu-ray disc combo packs. Pretty soon they will all just be blu-ray and just like VHS movies, DVDs will be considered old-fashioned. What about all of us who have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on DVDs?! I know many people who don't own VCRs anymore, is that going to happen with DVD players too? My family has a VCR and a bunch of kids movies on VHS. If we eventually get a blu-ray player too, we will have 3 separate movie collections.

Yes, It Actually Works!

I recently had a great idea for a new blog. I was thinking that it would be so funny to see what weird inventions people come up with to make things work. I would love it if everyone who reads this will take a look and let me know what they think about it, and if you have any pictures of crazy inventions send them to me and you can get them posted on there! Check it out at:
