When we were living with my wife's family while transitioning down here, one of the kids there had this horrible idea that wearing a lot of cologne was better than putting deodorant on. While he wouldn't smell like BO, he would smell up the whole house with the smell of cologne. Actually, it wouldn't smell up the house, it would saturate the house with the smell. Cologne is not the same as deodorant. Deodorant doesn't release any smell that the other person can smell. With cologne as a deodorant, people can smell you a mile away. Leave the job of being the deodorant to the sticks, not the cologne bottles.
