Friday Feast

Appetizer
Describe your laundry routine. Do you have a certain day when you do it all, or do you just wash whatever you need for the next day?

I usually just help with the laundry. I help my wife do the laundry and I help get the laundry used. I do that last part really well.

Soup
In your opinion, what age will you be when you’ll consider yourself to truly be old?

For me, it will probably be 50 because I really can't imagine myself ever being that old.

Salad
What is one of your goals? Is it short-term, long-term, or both?

To finish planting the grass in my yard by Labor day. Short term goal is what I am shooting for.

Main Course
Name something unbelievable you’ve seen or read lately.

I saw a video of a race car driver flipping end over end multiple times while going over 100 mph and the guy wasn't hurt.

Dessert
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how happy are you today?

About a 7 because I would much rather be home doing nothing then here at work. Especially on a Friday.

5 Questions MEME

Michelle was kind enough to tag me for this 5 questions, 5 answers meme.
1. What brings you the most joy in your life right now?
My two kids. There truly is something special about having children in your life. There is nothing else that can improve your life than having kids run around the house.
2. Where do you want to be in 3 years?
I want to have my house project completed, have another kid or two and on the way to purchasing a bigger house. I would also like to have a truck and a significantly bigger salary.
3. What's one attribute you want to improve?
Being a better public speaker.
4. Where is your ideal place to live and why?
San Diego, California because of the perfect weather, the San Diego Temple and being close to the beach.
5. Name one person that has had the biggest impact on your life.
My wife because she is always there for me and because she fills in the gaps of my personality and persona.

I know tag Kara and Richard.

Extra Hand In Your Pocket

Imagine this:

You enter a contest which is absolutely free. The contest is for a total makeover of your house. A prize worth over 50,000 dollars. This contest has been entered by thousands of other people. Finally, the day of the drawing comes and by a great miracle, you are selected as a winner. At long last, you won something worth great value and your kid-destroyed home can finally get some relief. You call your friends and family to tell them of your new prize. When all is said and done, your home looks great and it didn't have to touch your bank account. That is until you get the statement at the beginning of the next calendar year.

Uncle Sam wants his cut of the prize.

Why does he feel he has to do that? You now owe Uncle Sam about 10,000 dollars. And you have 4 months to come up with that money or else your butt will be pegged with more fines and possible jail time.

You are on this huge high from actually winning something and then the government steps in and throws you back down to the ground. What part did they do in winning the prize? Is Uncle Sam so disappointed in not winning a prize that he has to take part of someone else's? I mean the guy already taxes us on everything from groceries to property, what more can he want? Is he short on cash? I doubt it. You can tell that because the government gives out tons of money to other countries for some sort of cause or another. And why does the government have to tax the prize so heavily. The federal tax alone is over 30%. So no matter what the prize is, you have to pay a good chunk of it's value to the government for doing nothing. And that money will just end up in a road or some crooked politicians pet project. Stop stealing our prizes Uncle Sam. Maybe if you do that, people might be more inclined to like you. Take the money out of the $100 million + retirement package of some CEO who ran some company into the ground and put hard working people out of work. You can decide on which company I'm talking about here. There isn't a short list of them.

So next time you win a great prize for simply entering a contest, check your pocket for an extra hand before you get too excited.
